A whole house, or a seminar hotel in the Jura

By Robin — your host · 12 July 2026 · updated 11 October 2026 · 2 min read · Our method

For a small committee, the whole house beats the seminar hotel almost every time: doors of your own, the same table from morning to night, nobody else inside the walls. Beyond 6 to 8 people, take the hotel, honestly. Jura 835, in Foncine-le-Bas, is the first option made real: let whole, never by the room.

A whole house, not a hotel floor

In a hotel, an offsite lives in fragments: you meet in a function room, scatter to your floors and share every common space with strangers. Here, everyone sleeps under one roof and the day never changes address. Breaks spill out into the walled garden, 400 m² of lawn; in the evening the wood stove takes over. A seminar hotel does its job well; it simply does a different one, built for larger groups.

One price for the house

The rate is for the house, from €4,200 a week; the number of participants changes nothing on the bill. No minimum covers at dinner, no separate room hire. Exactly what the stay includes is set out in the quote we send with your dates. Robin hands over the keys in person, and a single contact answers during the week.

The long table

This is the piece of furniture that decides the week, far more than any meeting room. You work at it in the morning, dine at it in the evening and clear nothing in between. The fibre keeps pace, with 1 Gbit/s of bandwidth for demos. On request, we can put you in touch with a chef who cooks in the house while the team stays seated; a massage can also be arranged on request.

When the hotel wins

The hotel keeps the edge in three cases: a group larger than the house, a need for an equipped room with screen and sound, or a team that wants everything on site with nothing to organise. In those cases, take the hotel without hesitation. The house suits, on the contrary, a committee that wants to decide together, in calm, and is happy to cook or have meals brought in.

Three questions before choosing

Before deciding, ask yourselves three questions. How many will you really be, companions included? Do you need an equipped room or simply a long table? Do you want everything served, or are you happy to cook and tidy up together? If the answers lean towards a small group, a table and some shared housekeeping, the house will fit better. Otherwise, the hotel will serve you well.

The spec sheet, committee edition

This is a house for a committee, never for a convention: 3 bedrooms plus a work room, 2 bathrooms, all on one level, room for no more than 6 to 8, and always let as a whole, never by the room. Geneva is about 1 hr 15 min by road; the village, for its part, feels like the inhabited end of the world. You bring the agenda.
