A chef in the house changes a seminar’s tempo

A seminar often loses its thread at noon, when everyone goes out for lunch. A chef cooking on site, in the house, settles the matter: meals follow the agenda, never the other way round. At Jura 835, a house let whole to a single team, never more than 6 to 8 guests, here is how to go about it.
Leaving for lunch breaks the day
Laptops shut, two cars out, a wait for a table, and back in mid-afternoon with no grip on where you left off. When the meal is prepared in the house, nobody moves. You work at the table while the kitchen gets busy, and lunch arrives at the hour the team has set, not the hour a restaurant can fit you in.
Meals follow the agenda
A workshop runs over and the discussion is worth another quarter of an hour: push lunch back, the kitchen follows. Something jams mid-afternoon and a real break is called for: something warm comes out of the oven, you stop dead, you pick up a notch sharper. The rhythm of meals becomes a lever of the day rather than an outside clock. For a programme built around it, see the Monday to Friday format.
A chef, on request
On request, we can put you in touch with a chef who cooks on site. Before arrival, prepare three things for them: the number of meals and their times, everyone’s diets and allergies, and the moments when the team wants to be alone. Terms and price are settled directly with the chef. Otherwise, the kitchen belongs to the group, which can also keep one evening to cook for itself.
Or cook as a team
Cooking together is a team exercise too: one group makes dinner while the other finishes a workshop, then you swap the next day. For shopping, Champagnole is a 25 min drive; do it in one go on the first day, with a shared list. A board of Comté of different ages and seasonal vegetables are often enough to turn a simple dinner into a real occasion.
Walking after lunch
After a meal on site, a short walk restarts the afternoon better than another coffee. Leaving through the garden, the Rapoutier circuit runs to 6.8 km, but a first half-hour stretch is enough to come back to the session with a clear head. Put it in the programme, or nobody dares leave the table. A return time set in advance stops the break from stretching on.
The house, seen from the table
One team, never two sittings: the week is lived around one long table, workshop in the morning, dinner at night. The 3 bedrooms and the study keep calls away from the kitchen, and 2 bathrooms complete the house. Pricing is for the entire property, starting at €4,200 per week. To compare with a hotel, see whole house or hotel, and for a focused week, the deep-work week.
