The Monday-to-Friday offsite format that holds: two deep-work mornings, a Wednesday spent walking, two days to decide in writing. By Friday noon every decision fits one line, one owner, one date. Here is that week, day by day, as it plays out at Jura 835, a whole house in Foncine-le-Bas.
Monday and Tuesday: mornings belong to the work
The booking often runs Saturday to Saturday; the work runs Monday to Friday. The first two mornings pass in silence: each person claims a spot, the kitchen table, the fireside, a bedroom, and the fibre keeps up, with 1 Gbit/s of bandwidth. Phones wait for the afternoon. Come afternoon, the workshops open: the board, sheets pinned to the wall, a discussion for the whole group around the long table. The house widens to the whole group by day, then folds back into bedrooms at night.
Wednesday: first you walk, then the chef
Mid-week breaks the rhythm: the one-to-ones move outside, on foot. The voie du Tram, the old tramway line turned car-free path, starts in the village and stretches over 11 km. The Bief de la Ruine waterfall is a walk away, and the Parc waymarks a 8.8 km loop around it for those who want a real hike. An hour in pairs, with no screen, often loosens what a meeting room leaves stuck. In the evening, if you wish, we will put you in touch with a chef who comes to cook in the house. The group stays at the table around one dish; nobody drives, nobody hunts for a restaurant.
Thursday and Friday: decide in writing
The last two days are for cutting things down. Every decision gets written: one line, one owner, one date. Whatever is missing from the document by Friday noon does not count. The house holds up its end: zero commute, and a fire in the stove at night. Friday afternoon the document closes, and the group leaves with a text to act on rather than memories of a meeting.
Before Monday: prepare the document
A week that ends in written decisions starts with a prepared document. A week before leaving, send everyone the list of topics, with the useful figures attached, and one blank page per topic for the decisions. On the Saturday or Sunday, on arrival, read the list together and strike out whatever does not deserve the week. On Monday morning, work starts with no kick-off meeting.
The house that carries this format
The schedule holds because the house carries it: no more than 6 to 8 guests on one level, 3 bedrooms plus a study that doubles as a call booth, the long table for the workshops. Weekly pricing for the whole house starts at €4,200, and Friday’s document leaves with you. All that remains is to pick your Monday. And if the hotel still tempts you, compare.
