For the 2027 Transjurassienne, raced on 13–14 February 2027 over a new 50 km course between Lamoura and Les Rousses, a team can sleep under one roof in Foncine-le-Bas: Jura 835, a house rented whole for six to eight. The start is a drive away, well clear of the resort crowds.

A new course, every year

From 2027, the Transju runs on a 50 km reference course between Lamoura and Les Rousses, in the heart of the Haut-Jura. The organisers chose it because snow is too often missing on the historic route to Mouthe. The weekend keeps its two races: classic on Saturday, skating on Sunday, with shorter formats around them. For a club, the change matters most for lodging: you need to be near Lamoura in the morning and near Les Rousses in the evening. For supporters, the new format has one advantage: start and finish sit in the same sector, a short way apart, which makes support crews and car shuttles simpler.

A quiet basecamp

Jura 835 stands in Foncine-le-Bas, at 835 m, in a village where race weekend stays quiet. By road it takes about 45 min to reach the start in Lamoura (42 km) and about 30 min to reach the finish in Les Rousses (27 km). These are route-planner times, with no snow and no traffic: on race morning, leave a margin. In return, the night is spent far from the packed resorts, and the whole group sleeps at one address.

Race eve, under one roof

Under one roof, race eve becomes simple again. The pasta goes on the table when the team decides, bibs get pinned along the long table, and wax choices are argued out in the warm. Everyone turns in when they choose, with no hotel corridor and no strangers next door. In the morning, one alarm for everybody, and one car leaving for Lamoura.

Coming as a club

The house is rented whole, for 6 to 8 people, with 3 bedrooms, a spare study and 2 bathrooms for dawn starts. A ski club fits inside with its bags, its skis and its waxing kit, without sharing the living room with other guests. The price is for the house, not per head: whether six of you come or eight, it stays the same. A single contact answers every question, from arrival times to where the cars park. Bedrooms are shared out by affinity, the sofa bed in the study takes the last to sign up, and the long table gathers everyone for dinner and for the morning briefing.

Training in the days before

In the days before, the Foncine-le-Haut nordic domain is about 10 min from the house, with 110 km of groomed trails: the map and the domain in detail. That is the place for a sharpening session or a few short intervals, then home for lunch. The race course itself is best scouted by car the day before.

Fitting the week around race weekend

The house is rented by the week, from €4,200 for the whole house. For a weekend race, the week before has two advantages: the group gets used to the cold and the altitude, and everyone skis every day without changing beds. Those short on time arrive at the end of the week and keep the essentials, a quiet race eve and one shared alarm. Send your dates and who is coming; a single contact replies, and the week is fitted around race Saturday with you. February weeks will go first, so it pays to write early.

After the race

After the line, the house is for recovery: a hot shower each, a long dinner, the stove lit and one more night, with no drive in the dark. The trip home happens the next day, rested, rather than in the dark after the effort. The next day, a very easy session on the Foncine trails loosens the legs. Those staying the week can carry on with a stage of the Grande Traversée du Jura, which runs close by.
