Winter offsites · Haut-Jura

Mornings, you decide. Afternoons, you ski.

A contemporary timber house at 835 m, for your team of 6 to 8 alone. In winter the cross-country track runs two hundred metres from the door: the working day splits in two, and the second half happens outside.

The house’s meadow on a winter morning, frosted, with snow on the hills opposite, in Foncine-le-Bas
A winter day

Two half-days, two ways of thinking.

8.30 am

The session

The whole team at the long table in the living room, warm from the underfloor heating. The hard decisions are taken in the morning, while everyone is fresh.

1.30 pm

Outside

Skis go on in front of the house; those who don’t ski walk. The Foncine-le-Haut Nordic site has 17 snowshoe routes besides the trails. The morning’s ideas go round the loop with you.

5 pm

Back in

The kit goes to the ski room, where it dries for the next day. A short hour of work in small groups before dinner.

8 pm

The stove

Dinner at one table, then the wood stove. No one else in the house: what is said that evening stays between you.

The house, in winter

What matters when it snows.

  • The house: a near-passive timber-frame house, built to France’s RE2020 standard at its strictest 2031 thresholds, heated by an air-to-water heat pump and underfloor heating.
  • For the outings: a ski room with space to dry your kit.
  • To arrive: on-site parking, cleared of snow in winter.
  • All on one level: 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms for 6 to 8.

Organiser questions

Before you ask for a quote.

Does everyone need to ski?

No. The afternoon outside is on cross-country skis for those who ski, on foot or snowshoes for the others. The morning session and the evening stay the same.

What if there is no snow?

The programme doesn’t depend on snow: the session, the meals and the evening by the stove stay. Outside, you walk; the forest starts at the end of the meadow.
